Together Is Now Streaming, and It Might Make or Break Your Romantic Bond.

Consider this a dare for partners in committed relationships who are fans of the horror genre: Get comfortable with your loved one and view Together. This critically acclaimed 2025 movie just made its launch on a streaming platform on Hulu. On the surface, it might appear like typical biological terror, but beneath Together exists a deep meditation about the ways we decide to love one another.

A Debut Feature Delving into Partnership Complexities

Together is the introductory feature for filmmaker Michael Shanks. It showcases actors Alison Brie and Dave Franco as a couple named Tim and Millie, partners that have stayed together for a decade. Married in actuality in 2017, the two stars contribute a particular energy to their characters, skillfully embodying both the good and bad of a committed partnership.

The story begins when the couple relocate from the big city to the country for professional reasons. A commonly used story element, sure, but that’s primarily where the cliches cease. Together becomes as much a psychological exploration of the couple's dynamic as it is a movie featuring biological frights.

An Otherworldly Trigger

While walking near their country house, a storm hits, and the two discover an underground cave. After spending the night there and finally finding a way out, a supernatural entity begins influencing the duo. This force creates a supernatural closeness between them that goes far beyond typical partnership.

The complete narrative is a gradually intensifying fright fest, interspersing moments of hallucinatory nightmares, unsettling (but never too gross) biological grotesqueries, and genuinely funny dialogue (sometimes during something disturbing). Shanks skillfully blends these components seamlessly and delivers them in a slowly mounting aura of dread.

Layered Performances

A great deal of Together is only Brie and Franco, and they masterfully render countless layers to the characters’ relationship. Millie's sense of self and feeling of intimacy is suffering due to a lack of intimacy. Her underlying frustration of Tim for his reluctance to chase only his floundering music career slowly bubbles to the surface.

Tim, on the other hand senses confinement and separated by Millie, who’s the cause they’ve left the city and far away from his social circle. He fears the notion of utterly sacrificing his sense of self in another person. This fear is amplified by the fact he does not operate a vehicle and needs Millie for transportation.

The film's most intelligent aspect in Together never makes either of his characters the definite antagonist.

Both characters face the type of challenges that arise in long-term unions over a long period. At their core, they continue to care for one another. They share moments of joy, comfort one another, and open up at times. But below this facade, there’s an persistent feeling of questioning about their bond.

Symbolism and Metaphor

While the supernatural forces in Together act as a metaphor for these anxieties of excessive reliance and totally devoting oneself to a partner, the allegory does not come across as clumsy or self-important. Instead, these ickier, creepier moments offer a perfect parallel to the interpersonal storytelling. Both the supernatural and the personal serve the other symbiotically.

A Controversial Conclusion

Together’s ending, which is best experienced firsthand, has left audiences divided on the movie's final takeaway about enmeshed dynamics. It has been said that unattached audience members have understood the narrative as a compelling reason for avoiding commitment. Meanwhile, some couples experiencing tension found that the film actually helped them resolve their issues.

Regardless of your relationship status, your own reaction could potentially serve as a great barometer of how you think about commitment. Will the finale plant anxiety and horror, or a positive outlook on love? Will you see yourself in Tim or Millie and scream at your TV, or simply glance toward your significant other and utter, “We could get through that together”?

Regardless of the outcome, Together is an exploration you can experience at this very moment.

Together is available to watch on Hulu now.
