Three Xbox Game Pass Titles We're Playing This Weekend (Oct. 10-12)
After Microsoft's recent announcement of Game Pass subscription changes, featuring a price increase for the Ultimate Tier to $30 monthly, numerous members are looking for new methods to get the most from their subscription. If you keeping their subscription or thinking about signing up, here are this week's recommendations.
Our selected titles include a beloved JRPG, a charming indie journey, and a superb puzzler scheduled to depart from the platform soon.
Persona 4 Golden
Among the top ways to get your money's worth from your subscription is by immersing yourself in a lengthy, captivating RPG — and Persona 4: The Golden Edition matches that description exactly. Players step into the part of a teenager who has just moved to the sleepy rural town of Inaba. During the day, your goals include making new friends, taking on part-time jobs, and keeping up with schoolwork. By night, you investigate a chilling string of murders by exploring strange dungeons themed around your companions' deepest insecurities.
With a unforgettable group of heroes, strategic turn-based combat, impeccable visuals, and a plot full of surprises, Persona 4 Golden is considered a classic for many reasons. It also features a highly engrossing gameplay loop that will keep you up past bedtime, night after night.
Sopa - Tale of the Stolen Potato
While big releases like Ninja Gaiden IV are a primary selling point for Game Pass, the subscription also showcases lesser-known games. A perfect example of this is Sopa - Tale of the Stolen Potato. Drawing from Spirited Away, this enchanting indie adventure is a fantasy tale steeped in South American traditions. You follow Miho, who, after helping his grandmother prepare soup, is pulled into a colorful realm populated by potato-stealing frogs and various quirky creatures.
Sopa: Tale of the Stolen Potato unfolds like an educational computer title from the 1990s, as Miho solves challenges and helps the world's residents by gathering an assortment of objects. Even if it's a bit rough around the edges, Sopa: Tale of the Stolen Potato is a heartwarming little experience that openly showcases its appreciation for the region's culture.
Cocoon: A Puzzle Adventure
Cocoon is set to leave the service on October 15, leaving only a short time to play it via your membership — and you definitely must. Developer Geometric Interactive designed one of the best puzzlers of recent years in the 2023 release Cocoon: A Puzzle Adventure. Its central puzzle mechanic revolves around moving among realms inside other dimensions, and often you'll carry those worlds, in the shape of colorful spheres, with you.
While it doesn't have explicit guidance, everything about Cocoon's puzzles is built in a very natural way, though they will test you as well. The year 2023 proved a big year for games, so it's no surprise if Cocoon was a bit missed by many players. Let's correct that now.
