The Streaming Platform is Producing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The most recent action-packed game that gamers experienced was Far Cry 6, which showcased Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the antagonist, Antón, and debuted back in October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for embracing action and insanity with equal glee, all while telling gripping, ideologically themed stories. It’s no surprise that the network’s decision for a Far Cry seasonal program pulled in two creators whose creations have embodied all of those elements.
Show Details
Inspired by Ubisoft's successful video game franchise, the self-contained anthology series is set to premiere on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The show will also follow the video games' structure by featuring a fresh backdrop and ensemble in every instalment.
Creative Minds
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series via their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
“FX has had outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are working together for Far Cry,” stated Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a news release. “I have no doubt that they will tell this story in a way that is fresh, compelling, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to thank our partners at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also feature in the show, but currently, we do not know what character that might entail. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just renewed for a second instalment, with FX and Disney agreeing to a new comprehensive agreement with the creator.
“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a dream realized,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably supportive, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX team always encourages me with their ongoing trust and support.”
“What I love about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology show. Every title is a interpretation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a theme,” said Hawley. “To develop a large-scale action show that can evolve from season to season, while always exploring the nature of society through this complex and chaotic perspective, is a dream come true. I’m thrilled to partner with Rob and present our common irreverent, daring sensibility to the audience.”
A schedule for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not yet been revealed. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
