Supporters Call for Detainment of Man Who Touched Ariana Grande
Passionate fans of the actress are urging that a individual who breached a fence and seized the celebrity during the recent Wicked: For Good debut be detained or removed from Singapore.
A viral footage shows the Australian man shoving aside photographers and rushing toward Grande while the cast proceeded down a yellow carpet flanked by supporters.
Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was observed being removed of the event by event staff.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "let go after being detained", though court documents indicated that he was set to be present on the next day. It is not clear if he was faced legal action.
History of Incidents
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Controversial Figure", has disrupted a celebrity gathering. His Instagram profile includes videos of him disrupting other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney show in June this year and in a comparable manner during The Chainsmokers event in the city last December.
"Measures must be taken taken against him as this is clearly a legal violation," wrote an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Express Concern Over Ariana's Past Trauma
Several supporters blamed Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had discussed experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at the end of her spring 2017 performance in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring hundreds.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" wrote one more message on Instagram.
Several attendees also faulted guards at the premiere for not being sufficiently alert; while some requested online networks to remove Mr Wen's content.
Aftermath and Premiere Information
In footage circulating online, Grande seemed surprised when she was touched by the intruder. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be spotted reassuring her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Numerous of fans had congregated in a crowd of green and pink at the Wicked: For Good regional debut in a Singapore venue, including some who had queued for as long as many hours before it began.
The motion picture, to be premiered on November 21, is the sequel of a two-part adaptation of the popular stage show Wicked, which revolves around the unlikely bond between two distinct witches.
The production itself is a derivative of the twentieth-century children's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who acts as the good witch Glinda, was decked out in a rosé sparkling outfit at the gathering while Erivo, who acts as the villainous character, wore a sleek black dress embroidered with roses.
They were accompanied by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The initial film, Wicked, was the most successful film of 2024 in the UK, and earned 10 Academy Award nods, earning two for best costume and set decoration.
