Paceman Atkinson Exacerbates England's Injury Concerns.

'Major setback' for England after Atkinson is forced off with a hamstring injury.

The English seamer added to England's injury problems when he left the playing area during Saturday's play of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia.

The pace bowler pulled up with his hamstring post-delivery of the fourth over at the MCG.

Team management stated Atkinson felt some "soreness" and was to take time on the sidelines for further assessment "in the coming hours".

The final Test in this Ashes battle at the SCG starts this coming Sunday.

England have been without strike bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and Jofra Archer to a side strain during this series.

A replacement bowler was added to the party as cover for Wood.

Atkinson struggled during the first two matches, managing only three wickets.

He was left out for the Adelaide match, before being recalled for the fourth Test to fill the void.

Atkinson improved at the MCG, bagging two scalps during the host's first knock, before adding 28 while batting as one of just three English batsmen to reach double figures.

Post a single over late on the first day, he returned for the second day's play and had nightwatchman edging to the keeper.

However, at the end of that over, he sent down a slower ball to the batsman and promptly felt at his leg.

The English bowler was brought back for the fourth Ashes Test having missed of the third.
