Iran Claims Strike on US Base in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a significant and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an area near the command center of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any impact is unclear and the United States has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence said it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Operation "Truthful Promise 4"
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the strikes on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with notable success and destroyed a number of missiles," it added.
Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in the capital, causing some property damage and fatalities.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
