Esteemed Star Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Appearances in The Middle and Friends, Dies at 60 Years Old.
US actor Pat Finn, who was seen in beloved TV shows like Friends, "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has died aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer passed away at his residence in Los Angeles, California on Monday after undergoing treatment for a cancer diagnosis beginning in 2022, as reported by reports.
"Pat Finn saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a message.
They continued that he had "embraced life completely - with joy and exuberance".
A Notable TV Career
Finn's first television role was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he played the titular character's brother.
He was also seen in a regular part on "Murphy Brown" in the latter half of the 1990s.
He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in 1998, depicting a social organizer known to delegate unpleasant chores to his guests.
Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he made guest appearances on a variety of well-known programs, including:
- The King of Queens
- Friends
- That '70s Show
- "House"
His most famous role for playing Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight series between 2011 and 2018.
His film credits include It's Complicated and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a comedy group of six known as "Beer Shark Mice".
"Finn taught, supported, and inspired many learners throughout the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone anywhere who has a bad thing to say about him," his family wrote.
Offering condolences, colleague and actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, authentic human being you could encounter".
"Always positive, helping you be funnier and better. An excellent dad and person," Kind wrote on social media.
The actor is leaves behind his spouse Donna, his children, and his parents and siblings.
