Since the launch of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, demons, and dark forces increasing in strength within the city.
Note: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 are included.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), the cleric (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Planners, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for players who are drawn to a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander might seem mismatched, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Why They Must Go
To begin with, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing initiated the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and swiping all the enchanted items to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each character has a individual motive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
- The strong character and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could help the group access places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a life debt to Wicander for his rescue and will now follow him everywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and The character are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed House Halovar and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the clan.
This means them few options but to head to Timmony in quest for the antagonist.
Future Episodes
From episode three’s follow-up content, we discover that the Soldiers table won’t be around the following episode, leaving the remaining eight participants to round up the Explorers and Strategists parties.
