Arne Slot Insists He Is Secure and Retains The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Defeat

The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was natural for questions to be raised about his future after another heavy loss against the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their 9th loss in twelve games, representing the team's poorest streak after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, things are alright, I have got significant backing from management,” Slot commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory obviously but if you are coaching a team and underperforming then it's expected that people question you.”

He added, “I'm comfortable with my situation. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a difficult position but it's necessary that we turned it around.”

Talks with The Board

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don’t call me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He added, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this game yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Response

The manager highlighted known weaknesses from his squad in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was blunter in his view of the team's situation.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He added, “It’s hard because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I’ve seen Liverpool for years.”

“In a long, long time, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a spell such as this with results like these.”

Jones concluded, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And as long as it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad back to where it needs to be, prove again the values of this club and why it's known as the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
