Adult Swim's Premier New Show of 2025 Gets a Substantial Extension for Seasons 2 and 3.

Last October, the late-night programming block debuted a new season of its offbeat hit, Smiling Friends. Yet, later that same month, the channel unveiled a brand-new animated series with a distinctly unique feel. Haha, You Clowns proved to be gentle and comforting, in the spirit of a animated take of a laid-back talk show. At a time often defined by bleakness, this show's sincerity struck a chord and propelled it a breakout hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This offers creator Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to expand upon the world of the Campbell family. The series centers on three polite teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa voicing for all four main characters.

"I’m so grateful to the viewers of the show who took a chance on the show and spread the word," said Cappa. "I am overjoyed that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for seasons to come."

A President's Endorsement

In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "radically heartfelt and uniquely eerie." He shouted out the fans who discovered the show and advocated for its uniquely offbeat appeal.

"All of you got behind this new show, praised it on social media, and expanded its audience week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," noted Ouweleen. "As the show says: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Comforting Counterpoint

When it first aired, Haha, You Clowns was praised as "a wholesome alternative" to more cynical adult animated fare. It offers something surprisingly comfy about following this lovable family navigate their everyday routines.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa expressed his hope to move the comedy genre beyond its long-running cynical streak. He traced this trend to a broader media landscape.

“There's this level of irony that we keep returning to,” said Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we must laugh at something different now. The genre needs to change.”

Future Seasons

Now, with Haha, You Clowns locked in for the future, Cappa may well be part of that change he described. If nothing else, the renewal ensures audiences additional episodes to bask in the gentle humor of the unique Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns airs on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
